On Oct. 26, I had my Post-partum Mommy check up with my doctor. I was a little nervous about this day since I wanted to do a little shopping while we were in Houston and I was gonna have my new little tag-along. J This was our first big trip out and I was preparing for it to take a lot longer to do everything—couldn’t just run in and out of a store, had to unload her car seat, load it in the stroller, diaper bag, get through the doors, try on clothes with her, and pray she did not start screaming while in a store, never mind the fact that I am still nursing her—how was that all gonna work out?!?!?…J. Well it just so turned out that N had gotten sick that week and they weren’t sure what was going on with him so he had to have a cat scan done at 7 that morning in Sugar Land. It worked out good that we could go together. It was not fun waking up at 4:30 to get us all ready and out the door (especially when my child does not fall asleep until after 11 pm). We made it to the hospital for his CT Scan, then headed to see my friend Amanda and meet her new little girl, Elizabeth. She is precious…she is 2 ½ weeks younger than Paislyn and has even more hair than her. Of course I took my camera in to get pictures of the 2 girls, but realized the camera was still in the bag after I had P loaded back up in the car-seat to leave…shame on this mommy!
Because of all the craziness of his sick week he just decided to stay with me all day…boy that was a big weight taken off of my shoulders. Well I had her all decked out in her cute clothes and by the time we made it to the first store she had a blow-out (now this is no surprise—we deal with this EVERY DAY!) SO clothes change #1 happened in the car. Another store and then off to lunch. Well that was blow-out #2…I was not comfortable using the public diaper change things so we were changing her in the car….as we were cleaning up the mess and changing her clothes again, she decided to pee everywhere….what a mess! Got her all situated and off to more shopping…then we headed to the Dr. Everything checked out great for me… YAY! J
We made another stop then stopped to eat supper. I had pumped the day before and packed some bottles so we could feed her while we ate instead of being confined to the car while I fed her all day, so we took her out at the restaurant to feed her and she had blown out her diaper again and it was all over the padding in her car seat too. OMG! I was stressed and frazzled to say the least at this point! We had a bag full of dirty clothes in the car already. This time I took her in the bathroom and did another clothes change while Daddy dealt with the car seat. Boy were we beat by the time we got home and had a pile of laundry to deal with. UGH! We did survive our first big outing though and I told N we will not be taking her shopping or out on a big trip like that for a LONG time….ha boy was I wrong! We had to head back on Friday so he could get some more tests done and since so much of our time was consumed on Wed. I wanted to go back again to finish shopping.
I knew we would be in for another big adventure!
