12 Months

Sweet Baby Breckyn is officially no longer a baby…tear! :)  She has seemed to grow up before our eyes over the last few days and although I am glad she is becoming a little more able to do big girl things with Paislyn, I am sad that she has grown so incredibly fast!! This year has truly been the fastest year of my life!!!  It honestly feels like just yesterday I was pregnant with her and now she is a big walking, talking, getting into everything little girl.  Last year I went into labor the day after Thanksgiving and to think it is already Thanksgiving again just floors me!  Here are some 1 year stats on our big girl.
She is wearing 12 month clothes
She sleeps from around 7:30 pm-5:30 am (Yes, even on the weekends :)).  She is still drinking breast-milk although the last time I nursed her was on her birthday. (She is officially weaned and while a part of me is a little sad, I am mostly glad and now I can be a little selfish and worry about myself—drinking some caffeine if I choose, a little wine if I choose, eating spicy foods, getting dressed with what I want to wear and not what is practical for nursing, taking medicine if I need it to get well, etc.)  We are now trying to finish the stockpile of frozen milk in the freezer.  I just cut out the bottle and am giving her breast milk for breakfast, lunch, and supper out of a sippy cup with water in between meals and with snack.
I took away her paci the week of her birthday…again, easy as can be.  Just didn’t give it to her one night before bed and no turning back has not had it since then.  I cannot believe how easy both of my kids weaned off bottle and paci.  I just didn’t give it to them and we had no issues! Thank you Jesus!
This child is a HOT MESS!  She totally had us fooled the first 9 months of her life by being soo calm, laid back, etc.  She is more than a handful now and making up for every bit of laid back-ness she ever displayed. :)
If you want a work-out come bathe Breckyn one evening…holy cow she wears me out!! She refuses to sit down, turns the faucets on and off, runs around, slips, falls, drinks water, laughs about it all AND is crazy! :)
She is a great eater and eats most everything we give her.  She is an excellent fruit and veggie eater and makes the biggest mess ever with her meals.
She fights me with bows and most days with her pony, too.  Her hair is a mess and matches her personality if not fixed.  She laughs when you take her clothes off to un-dress her. A little concerned about this one…lol!  She loves getting undressed!  As soon as you take any article of clothing off of her she laughs.  It’s hilarious but makes me a little nervous 20 years for now! :) Putting clothes on is no fun, but taking them off is entertainment to this little munchkin!
Although she is a wild one, she is super cuddly!  She comes up to us all the time and leans on us, sits on our lap, hugs us, etc.  She also hugs any blankie, baby, or soft item she sees.  She is so lovable!
She is a human-goat.  She eats EVERYTHING…wood (both her bed and out table have wood pieces missing the size of teeth), paper (all of our nice books that P never messed up have teeth marks on and pages messed up), plastic (she is known in our house to enter the pantry if the door is left open and go straight for the pack of paper towels and pull the plastic apart with her teeth), there have been huge hunks of toilet paper missing if she has been in the bathroom, etc.
She LOVES LOVES LOVES to take a bath.  When we get her out of her high chair at night she runs straight to the bathroom and tries to get in.  If she is not able to, expect a big fit to be thrown.
She still has her same 7 teeth (4 on top and 3 on bottom) and we noticed after a super fussy Saturday evening her 4th bottom tooth is trying to break through.
This child is a CLIMBER.  She climbs everything!  She hikes that leg up and tries to climb in and out of the bathtub.  She makes me crazy with all of her climbing!  She has mastered steps and chairs.  Every kid size chair we have in our house become a way for her to get higher.  We have had to move chairs so she can’t get to them because she uses them to get higher and reach things.  She is going to give me a heart attack and probably be the first with a broken bone. UGH!
She is destructive!  Everytime she walks into the kitchen she rips the towels off the oven and dishwasher.  It makes me crazy!  If she walks by their laundry hamper and anything is slightly hanging out, she will pull it and throw it on the floor!  UGH!  She usually thinks it is funny too!  She is fast too!!  We have to run in and out if we are trying to do something.  If the pantry, closet, or bathroom doors are open she will do some damage!
She is still a momma’s girl and if I try to walk out of a room and she is still in there some screaming will take place (see below about fit throwing!) :)
She can throw some major little fits!  If you take something away from her, or try to put her down when holding her, or just don’t give her what she wants in general, BEWARE!  She will throw herself back and on the ground, flop all over, scoot around with her face, and let out some shrill little screams!!  If you take something away from her and try to replace it with a toy, sippy cup, etc. watch out because it will become projectile and she will throw it down! Temper Temper!  Super cute now but I can see where it will get her in trouble down the road! :)
Although the only real words (that we can understand)  she has said are “Momma, dada, bye, this”, she understands much more. When we say anything with “eat” she runs to her high chair and starts whining until you put her in.  If we say outside she points to the door and takes off.  When we get her out of her bed, she runs into Paislyn’s room and points and starts “talking”.  I think she wants her to be awake too since she is already up. J
It amazes me how much she has changed and grown into a toddler in the last 2 weeks.  Where has my baby gone?!?!  She is cute, cuddly, and super fun and we would be lost without her! We love you Breckyn Kate!  Happy 12 months baby girl!
