We're still trucking along...

Well yesterday I had my 34 Week 5 Day appt.  Things are still looking good…she told me just to try and hang on to this baby for another 1 ½ weeks and all will be good! YAY!!  Baby heartbeat was 157…pretty typical for our baby….the nurse hit the heartbeat the minute she touched my belly so it was this loud blast right away which we were not expecting and then the baby started kicking out hard (I guess it scared him/her too) on the other side so we just laughed the whole time.  It was cute! She measured my belly and this time it measured 35 weeks (I had been measuring small) so either the baby grew or just shifted positions.  I had 0 weight gain again.  I asked if this was an issue since last time I lost a pound and this time stayed the same…she said since I gained the perfect amount overall so far, no worries.  Also, she said around this point weight usually plateaus since mommies do not feel like eating as much because everything is being pushed on and just overall uncomfortable.
As far as the horrible round ligament pain I have been having it is all “baby caused” and there is nothing more I can do about it  (unfortunately some women are just “lucky” enough to have it) other than have a baby…she assured me it will completely go away once this little one is here in our arms.  I do not remember if I have blogged about this before or not (pregnancy brain J) but Nathan and I have been certain that the baby is lying sideways across my belly (traverse position).  2 weeks ago I asked the Dr. about it and she said by 34 weeks the baby should be in position, and if not by 36 weeks we would begin trying to turn the little angel to get him/her ready for a proper launch.  I asked about it again yesterday…We have little heels/elbows, toes, etc. poking out of my sides all of the time…BUT I do feel hiccups down on my right lower side where my round ligament pains are which has me confused.  I don’t really ever feel/see much movement in the middle or up high (as would be with feet if the baby were laying correctly).  Well leave it to me to have a crooked laying baby---why would anything be straight with my body?!?! LOL!  She tried to feel around yesterday to see if she could tell AND the head is down (which explains the hiccups), the little baby butt is all the way on my right side, and the little feet and legs are sprawled across my left side…go figure!  SO typical of MY child! J  She reassured me that even though he/she is laying so crazy in there that since the head is down all is A-OK! J
We discussed the anesthesiologist again and she is going to talk to them herself.  She has had 2 patients before with the Herrington Rods that successfully delivered babies without a problem so she tried to put me at ease with not fore-seeing any problems.  She asked me if I have had any cramps and I have been really crampy lately.  She said she is glad and that she expects it since I am so close—she said my body is just getting ready for labor.  She again told me if I am having any contractions that are regular to begin timing them and told me when to call the hospital with them.  So hard to believe we are at this point already!  BUT SOO EXCITING!
I go back for my last 2 week appt. in 2 weeks and she will again check my cervix for dilation, we will have another ultrasound (YAY! It has been so long since we have seen our baby!), and do the Group B Strep Test.  I can’t wait!
Today we have been working on cleaning out our cars…well I started out helping but soon made my way back into the house for the AC….it is hard enough for me to breathe inside (with the baby squishing my lungs, and my sinuses swollen from the baby) much less outside in this triple digit heat wave.  They are getting a good cleaning and the car-seat base it getting installed tonight! J
Yesterday after my appt. I had to make a stop at Motherhood since I haven’t really worn “real” clothes much this summer (other than to dr. appts, church, family gatherings, etc.).  I have lived in junky shorts (or N’s) and tank tops all summer-anything loose enough for me to breathe in.  So, I have obviously out-grown my pants that I had at the end of the school year.  I didn’t want to buy much since I will be having a baby so soon, but since I can’t wear cotton shorts to work I had to do something.  SO I got a few things just to tide me over and my co—workers will just have to get used to seeing me in the same things until this baby joins us.
Tomorrow I have my last shower and I plan to post pics. as well as the nursery pics. I have taken with everything complete.  Have a great weekend! J
