We are 36 weeks pregnant—9 months pregnant to be exact…only 28 days left! WOW!! We have done sooo much to prepare for this little one and cannot wait until he/she is out in this world with us!
**Disclaimer—(This is MY blog so I can say/think what I want)… I have said I would not complain with this pregnancy but I have found myself doing just that lately. While I am so very THANKFUL to be carrying our little angel, it is beginning to really take a toll on my poor body. I totally underestimated pregnancy before I became pregnant. I will be happy to have the baby here as my Dr. says everything I am feeling should totally be gone once the little one is here. I have been pregnant since December. I have been BIG and pregnant through one of the HOTTEST and driest summers on record. I am now hugely pregnant as I begin my 5th year of teaching tomorrow. WOW—hoping I can put on my happy face and find some energy to keep my little ones entertained and excited about this new school year.
While I am not “complaining”, I do want all of my symptoms recorded here for future reference of how I felt at certain stages, etc. for the next time I am pregnant.
While I have been dealing with HORRIBLE round ligament pains on and off throughout the past 9 months (which have returned with a vengeance to stay since 33 weeks), I have not had a whole lot else going on. Last Sunday evening my left foot/ankle/calf started hurting SO bad I could barely walk on it. It was huge and swollen (kind of looked like my belly J). It was very uncomfortable and felt so dry since my skin was stretching out so much. Monday morning it was not so bad, but got worse throughout the day and by evening was huge again and hurting so bad. My foot and ankle were very swollen and felt like a huge bruise that hurt to touch, walk, put pressure on, etc. If you know me you know I have “chicken legs” as my husband likes to call them. Well, this week my calves are so big I look like I have been playing softball my whole life. Tuesday was the same thing…finally Tuesday night I was begging Nathan to rub my feet because they were so dry since they were stretching out so much (he rubs my feet with lotion EVERY single night—yes he is a great husband—but since everything had been swelling/bruising he said he was scared to rub in case I had a blood clot since you cannot put pressure on blood clots). He kept looking at it more when we were in bed and we had elevated my foot and everything. I was in pain and he was very concerned and finally talked me into calling the Dr. office (at 10:30 p.m.). The On-call Dr. called me back and I expressed my concerns—we were really concerned since it was only ONE foot/leg doing this (which I did not deem as normal) and I was having a hard time walking. The Dr. asked a lot of questions, any other symptoms, etc. and seemed to think it was normal swelling (even with it being only on one foot). He told me I could come in if I wanted to but they didn’t think it was anything serious. He wanted me to elevate it and make sure I was laying on my side. He said to call back for sure though if it developed a fever. Well it still comes off and on but is not all day pain. I have looked like a real winner this week at school though being that I cannot walk right on my left foot and I already walk funny since I have the horrible RL pains on my right side…yeah it’s cool! J Every ounce of pain is worth the end result I know—it is just hard not to complain right now with as miserable as I feel—my poor body is just stretched to the max!
On another note—today marks the one year anniversary of living in our house. WOW—how things can change in a year! Our house has undergone a MAJOR transformation since we have moved in with a baby in tow. We no longer have a guest room, but a nursery. Our living room has been taken over by swings, bouncies, boppies, etc. Our bedroom has an extra bed-a bassinet. Our guest bathroom is full of baby products, baby bathtub, and cute baby towels and wash cloths. Our kitchen cabinets that were empty are now full of baby products and our countertops now house a bottle rack, sterilizer, etc. How things can change! But with each new change comes more and more excitement to get this little one here!! YAY!!!
I will leave you with a 36 week picture of the little one! Please say some prayers for all of the teachers (me included :)), students, administrators, etc. as we embark on another new school year tomorrow.
WOW--could it get any bigger?!?!
A close up of just the belly to really see the size of that little one in there! :) He/she is a healthy baby for sure! :)
