I had a 9:30 appt. down-stairs for the big ultrasound (this is the first ultrasound that my Dr. did not do). We were in the waiting room with so many other pregnant couples. I did not even get called back until 10:30 (which is what time my appt. was with my Dr.) Well, for the ultrasounds like this they only take the mom back, do all the measurements, etc. then call the radiologist and the dad in to go over everything again and see the cute pics. When I got called back it was only to the next waiting room to change into the gowns and again wait (there were 8 of us preggos in the beautiful gowns in this waiting room). I texted Nathan to let upstairs know that we had not even had our ultrasound...he texted me back that he had already gone to the 4th floor to let them know and not to worry about it...they coordinate with the ultrasounds so since we had the appt. they would see us when we got done. PHEW!
I finally went back and boy did we find out we have one active little one on our hands. :) He/she would not stop moving, kicking, and punching the entire time. The tech had a hard time getting the measurements she needed as the baby was not cooperative. We never even got a good picture of the little face as the baby seems to be camera shy. :) She was not even able to measure one of the arms as the baby laid on it the whole time (but that did not prevent him/her from continuously moving around--he/she continued to punch with the remaining arm). She was trying so hard to make the baby come out of it's comfy little area by pushing, prodding, wiggling my belly but to no avail. I honestly think that since I am so gentle with my belly, the baby was hiding face and staying away from the surface and all of the commotion out here. :) Just my opinion though! :) The ultrasound took at least 30-40 minutes..they also checked the cervix and the report was that everything with the baby is looking healthy and normal as this point!!! Big sigh of relief as I had been a little worried since they would be able to tell so much more at this appt. All measurements were right on track, we saw all 4 chambers of the heart pumping, and even saw the red and blue blood flowing from the umbilical cord to the baby. Since the baby was being so uncooperative and she could not get a good shot of the head, she even resorted to the 3-D ultrasound, but that did not go well either. So, at least we have a healthy and active baby who is apparently already stubborn like momma (according to my husband)! :)
When the ultrasound was finished it was already 12:00 (and I had majorly missed my 10:30 appt. with my Dr.) They informed me she had just been called to the hospital for a C-Section so we could go eat lunch and then come back around 1. That was fine with me! :) We ate and then came back and were able to walk right in. Quick visit--she said I was looking fine (size-wise) and I have only gained 5 pounds total during this first 20 weeks (however I feel like it is more than 20 the way that bump is sticking out there)! :) She gave us the info. to register at the hospital for the childbirth classes and hospital tour and we go back in 4 more weeks.
We then went to Babies-R-Us to try and finish our registry and ordered all of our baby furniture. :):):) We started our registry at Target and made a stop at Hobby Lobby to once again try and compromise/agree on the fabric for bedding. UGH! That is such a chore. Hopefully we can figure it out this weekend and get the room painted as our furniture should be in next weekend! I can't wait!
Here a few of the better pics. we got yesterday. ENJOY!
A skull picture
3-D picture of profile
How he or she spent the time shying away from the camera so we couldn't see the face :(
A cute picture of the legs crossed and the little feet.
The same picture as above...Nathan just traced it out so you can better see the features.
