Spring Break Check-offs

Friday marked 6 months until our due date. :):)  Time is just ticking away!  Being that I was on Spring Break and actually had time to get things done, Nathan took off Friday afternoon as well so we could run a BUNCH of errands and take care of baby things.  First on the agenda was to get the baby registered for Baptism.  That took just a few minutes  at the Church (you have to register 6 months before the due date) since we could only answer a FEW of the questions.  We didn’t have name, birthday, God-parents, Baptism date (since we have no idea when the baby will actually be here).  We figured it will just take place in October and will determine the actual date as it gets closer.

Next up, was on to look at day-cares.  There are really only 2 to pick from around here.  I had asked around a lot to several friends (where they take their kids and what they have heard about the 2 day-cares) and had come up with a list of questions.  Now, I worked for over 3 years at a day-care while I was in college so I know the other side of a day-care which is both comforting and uneasy.  Needless to say, we fell in love with one rather quickly and visited with the director for about 1 hour and 15 minutes! No joke!  We ended up making a deposit and getting on a waiting list for November.  One of my best friends moms also works in the nursery there and that put me even more at ease to know if I can’t stay home and take care of our baby, at least I know and trust the person that will.  There are already 7 on the waiting list.

The other day-care we walked in and all they did was give us a packet to read.  I asked about prices (which were way more anyways) and she said she will not put us on a waiting list until around August—now that is cutting it close!  We walked out in about 3 minutes and knew we had already made the right decision by going with the first one.

So—2 more things crossed off of my “baby to- do” list. J

We also started researching Pediatricians.  The websites for Dr's around here do not convey much information.  We are not really big on using any doctors around here, but know it will not be very feasible to load up a sick baby for a 2 hour round trip into Houston for appts, shots, etc. so we are still searching. Again, I questioned a lot of friends and got several different suggestions for local doctors.  We will continue this search, but at least we got a start with getting information and looking around.

My cousin got married in Dayton this weekend (Congrats Brandy & Blake) so we were able to stop at Babies-R-Us on Sunday on the way home.  I was able to get a baby book (that we both liked and agreed on J) to get that rolling with all of the info. we already have and ultrasounds pics where they go.  YAY!

We have also found furniture online that we agree on and will probably go with.  That will get ordered soon.  AND—since we cannot find any bedding we like or agree on we stopped at Hobby Lobby to look at fabric.  We bought a couple different swatches to think about and we just need to make a decision soon.

So glad we got so many little things taken care of and can’t wait to get more things crossed off the list.  I already feel better about everything!

Today it was back to work :(...but at least we are that much closer to summer and our little bundle of joy being here!! :)
