SO TRUE!

You know the saying, "You always want what you can't have..."????

Well, this has been so true to my life lately.  For some odd reason I have been wanting things I can't have...wine, sushi, Dr. Pepper, painted toenails, you know (OH--and I have to give the bowl to Nathan to lick if I make a cake or brownies..it stinks not being able to share it, but it has raw eggs :( )....  Those of you that know me know I do not even hardly drink that much/rarely ever, sushi-only about 3-4 times a year, Dr. Pepper-only on weekends, and painted toe-nails-only in the Spring and Summer.  So, I think the only reason I want these things so bad now is that I know I can't have them.  Oh well...I will live without them...Nathan has found me a substitute for Dr. Pepper--All natural, organic, caffeine free, natural cane sugar "soda"...not too bad.  They are completely healthy and something that I can drink being pregnant.  We have tried the strawberry kiwi and root beer flavors, Not too bad!  I know that I "can" drink Dr. Pepper, but since this is our first baby and all, we have chosen the no caffeine route.  In the olden days, caffeine was considered un-safe, so I don't know why it is considered "safe" today.  Oh how I would love to have just a sip right now though!

Well, I have been complaining to Nathan about how spring is here and I can't even paint my toenails and my cousin is getting married this weekend and how I CANNOT wear heels or anything without my toes being painted.  (MY book says it is not good and my husband has ALWAYS been on my case about what I put on my skin, so .....)  Well my Dr. says they have no research proving anything (whether good or bad) as they cannot run trials on pregnant women. She says pregnant women paint their nails all the time and get pedis, so it is up to me....well if something says "don't do it" I am not.  Especially when we are talking about this little life I am growing inside me.

SOOOOO...my sweet husband being the determined one he is has been on the hunt for a "safe" polish for me.  No luck in El Campo, so last week one night after his class (around 10:00 p.m.)  he stopped at Whole Foods Market in Houston.  (I did not know this until the next morning as I am asleep by the time he finally gets home)  When I woke up the next morning, he had 2 bottles of toenail polish and a box of organic, naturaly chocolate brownies.  (Chocolate also has caffeine so I limit my intake of that as well).  He said he looked like "that guy" cruising the nail polish aisle forever trying to decide on the colors that I would pick.  He went back and forth several times and finally decided to purchase BOTH of the ones he had settled on to make sure I would like and since he could not choose!  How sweet is that--I know have a bright hot pink and an orangey pink to rotate between for the spring and summer!  SO, now I have painted toe-nails again, I can wear heels this weekend, and he does not have to listen to me whine and complain anymore! :)  Now, we just have to find a safe way to remove the polish--he is on that today! :)

I think I am just SOL with the wine and sushi, but we have found safe and healthy alternatives to the other problem...Oh well, they will just taste all the better in a few short months! :)
