At 4 months old this sweet little boy:
-Weighs 13 lbs 15 oz (17%) and is 26 inches tall (82%). He continues to measure "long and lean" according to the Dr. I feel like he is huge, but the scale does not show that. He wears size 2 diapers & 6 month clothes.
-He is the happiest of babies! He is always smiling, laughing, and cooing. He fusses occasionally and just talking to him will turn him to laughing or picking him up settles everything! ;)
-He LOVES to hold your hand, finger, etc. I have never seen such a hand-holding baby! He is sooo cuddly and I just eat it up!! :)
-He constantly has to have something in his mouth. If his paci falls out, then his fingers go in. He sucks/chews on something CONSTANTLY!!!! He is so drooly but I don't see any teeth trying to pop out just yet. He chews on his thumbs but loves sucking on his 2 middle fingers. It is pretty cute!
This is usually how he looks! 24 hours of the day unless he is smiling or a boob is in his mouth! :)
And in case you can't tell...we have found our feet
-He is starting to really grab on to things.
-He can roll over but rarely does so.
-He still spits up a TON and I am fairly certain he too has a dairy allergy (like Breckyn). I have cut out dairy before to see but it takes 3-5 weeks to eliminate from your system. It does not bother him any...he is a happy spitter. With that being said both B's Allergist and our Pedi both have told me not to cut anything out if it does not bother him. Just to keep on eating and we will worry about it later.
-He is still exclusively breast-fed. He has been a little funny this summer and kind of on a crazy routine keeping his sisters busy. He kind of nurses like every 2 hours or so but not for very long.
-He is absolutely still such a joyful baby! Although his sleeping habits have went down hill this month, he is still my best baby yet!
-We are having some "flat head" issues so at 2 months the dr. wanted him on his tummy as much as possible so we were doing all his naps on his tummy. This lead to him only wanting to sleep on his tummy. So we were letting his go to sleep on his tummy and then I would flip him when I went to bed. Then he got sick!!! :( He developed croup and an ear infection. We went through 10 days of an RX and I knew he was still not better. During this time our nights were TERRIBLE! He had been such a rockstar sleeper and not I was up all.night.long.!!!! (For some reason it was with all 3 kids though!) I finally caved and was letting him sleep on his tummy for the sake of getting a tiny bit of rest. I have always been the freakishly crazy mom about my kids being on their tummies!!! I would set my alarm for like every 30 minutes of the whole night to get up and check on him. CRAZY! BUT at least I could get a few minutes of shut-eye in and he wasnt screaming all night. If we put him on his back he would crane his neck so hard and arch his back. We were afraid of him rolling over so we moved from the swaddle to the sleep sack. His 4 month check up was also his ear infection follow up and my suspicion was confirmed. His ears were still full of fluid. We are now on a different RX to combat this infection and back to sleeping on our back (for the most part at least....I usually flip him on his tummy around 3 am or so now because he will fuss until I do so). I think the crazy no sleep, trying to flip over business was his ears bothering him because it is totally different now with a different med. that I can tell is working!
He would not be still so he flopped over on the chair....
then he rolled to his belly and I got a good "squishy face" :)
And the only good smiley one!
And just because he is sooo stinking CUTE!!!!
I have had a few questions about his tests we had run back in May. We did get the results back from the kidney ultrasound and VCUG test. The kidneys are fine!! YAY!! The VCUG did show some reflux on the right ureter. (The testing was quick but involved stripping the poor baby down to nothing. He was then laid on the x-ray table as they put the catheter in. We then held him down as they poured cold water on his little boy parts and watched on the x-ray screen as he peed. It was all in contrast so we were unsure what we were seeing but then it was explained to us.) It is a mild case of reflux. At this point we are just watching it and praying his UTI's stay non-existent and that he will out-grow it. With any fever we have to take him in and get cathed to check for a UTI. If he gets too many we will be sent to a urologist and follow their protocol. If they stay under control we will just wait and watch until next year at the same time. Next May, we will undergo the VCUG testing again and see if it has gotten better or what the deal may be. It is definitely something that can be out grown so that is what we are praying for!
Happy 4 months sweet baby boy! :) We love you!!!
