The "Bigs"

Since we are oh so close to becoming a family of 5, I have wanted to take a little time to give updates on my “big” girls so I can remember later what our life was like prior to adding baby #3. :)

Paislyn Brooke:

  • 3 years old
  • Weighs 32 pounds
  • o   Still LOVES anything and everything yellow….it’s her favorite color and she will make sure you know it if she spots anything yellow.
  • o   Has slowly started becoming a little bossy and prissy.
  • o   Not much of a cuddle-bug but sweet, none the less.
  • o   She is a scaredy-cat (gets it from her momma) and we are working with her on standing up for herself, etc.
  • o   She is a girly-girl but has lots of tomboy in her too.
  • o   Has a WILD imagination and does soo much pretend play…loves turning inanimate objects into babies, etc. instead of playing with actual babies
  • o   Likes to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Blues Clues when allowed TV time
  • o   Insists on having her hair braided every.single.day.!!!
  • o   Likes routine…everyday asks for me to read her the school menu before we go to school so she knows what she will be eating, asks for the current day of the week and then either asks or tells me what the previous and next day will be.  Asks for the date, etc.  She knows she has to go to school for 5 days then gets 2 days at home with us.  We count these down daily.
  • o   She can spit out any and every rule to you…now whether or not she always chooses to follow them is another story. J
  • o   I have to say that the 3’s have DEFINITELY been more trying with her than her 2’s ever were.  UGH!
  • o   After our bed-time routine and we tuck her into bed she does not get up.  At all!
  • o   She is not really a morning person.

We constantly talk about her being the “big sister” and how she will be the big sister to 2 when the baby gets here.  She has been the one acting most like a baby lately which worries me for when the baby gets here.  She also always says we are having a "baby sister".....not even acknowledging it could be a brother and when we suggest it she is not having it...yikes!  She also has a boy name and a girl name picked out and when we tell her those wont be the baby names she disagrees. :)

Breckyn Kate:
  • 2 years old
  • Weighs 28 pounds
  • o   Claims her favorite color is purple but has not developed the crazy sense yet that everything HAS to be purple (unlike our little yellow fan:))
  • o   Is our little prissy-pants…this girl is a HOT MESS!!!!
  • o   She is such a sweet little cuddle bug and LOVES to give (and receive) hugs and kisses all the time.
  • o   She LOVES LOVES LOVES babies and all things baby!  This makes me happy but considering she is our “baby” it does make me a little nervous as to how she will react to our baby we will bringing home for good. J
  • o   Likes to copy everything her sister does—good or bad!
  • o   We converted her bed back in November right before her 2nd birthday.  She does good for the most part but she is the kid that gets up 25 times always  “needing” something.  We allow it for a few times then we close her door (or at least threaten to and that’s usually all it takes).  BUT she does get up in the middle of the night a lot and do wild things.  Sometimes, she just comes to our room and cuddles up in our bed.  She goes right to sleep though and then we just carry her back.
  • o   Not scared of anything!  This crazy chick will get up in the middle of the night, turn on the lamp, and do whatever she pleases.  (IF Paislyn does happen to get up in the middle of the night you will hear her charging through the house to get into our bed and that is the only place she will go).  We have caught Breckyn brushing her teeth at 3 in the morning, looking at pictures on old cell phone, getting a cup of water and making herself cozy (all in the middle of the night….this kid!!!!!)
  • o   She is a morning person!  She gets up bright & early (usually before us) and is ready to go!
  • o   She still takes a nap at school (well, most days anyways) but does not nap for us at home.  I gave up fighting her months ago and it usually makes for a smoother bedtime on the weekends anyways.
  • o   She is POTTY TRAINED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WOOHOO!!!! These last few weeks have been the first time in our house we have been diaper-free in almost 3.5 years!!!  Well, she does still wear a diaper at night-time because we aren’t ready for that just yet but the day-time part is nice!  Esp. since we will be right back to diapering in a few short days/weeks. J
  • o   She was pretty easy to potty train!  And even though she has only been wearing just panties for a few weeks now she is completely independent with it.  She goes and gets on the potty by herself, takes care of business, washes her hands, etc. and refuses to allow any help!
  • o   She is such a helper!  She loves to help with everything BUT do not even attempt to help her with anything!! She is MISS INDEPENDENT and can have her shirt on inside out and backwards and upside down and be screaming about it but don’t even waste your breath trying to help her….it  just makes the situation worse because she has to do it!
  • o   Little Miss Personality!  She is so funny and keeps us laughing.
  • o   Her favorite sayings are “I already did” (with her hands up in a dramatic fashion) and “just a minute”…she is a pistol and spoiled rotten!!!
  • o   If you tell Breck she is silly or goofy or anything she will say “no I not, I Breckyn Kate Drapela”….it is cute! J
  • Still a momma’s girl so much!
  • Loves to laugh and loves to be tickled.
  • She is rough and tumble but sweet and soft at the same time
This crazy girl can never make up her mind.  It drives me crazy! She will say she wants something then when you give it to her she won’t want it or vice-versa.  I am hoping its just a stage and shall pass soon! J  She will want water and ask for it and when you give it to her she will throw a huge fit because she wanted to do it herself.  So you pour it out so she can do it and she says “no, you do it”…ugh!!!  It wears on my patience!! J

They both love to talk about the baby so much…P always says we are “fixing to have 3 kids” and we “will have 3 car-seats in our car”.  B loves to kiss my tummy and talk about the baby in there.  I can't wait to see what our crazy life will be like in a few short weeks with these 2 + their new baby brother or sister.  We know it will be a wild ride but we are ready!!!  I know once the adjustments are made the girls will love the baby no matter what!
